Behaviour Problems

After nearly 12 years as an animal behaviourist I've seen pretty much every problem in the book! However, the ones I see on a very regular basis include:

 Aggression / reactivity towards people or dogs

 Barking - in all sorts of situations

 Recall problems - including chasing wildlife or livestock

 Fears and phobias of all kinds

 Pulling on the lead - very common!

 Inability to pay attention or settle

 Difficulties being left alone

 Inappropriate toileting

I regularly see cats with toileting, spraying,, aggression or fear problems

Regardless of the problem, there is always a way forward. Over the years I've found that level of success does not depend on how serious the problem is – the most important factor for success is the owner's motivation.  Naturally, you need good advice, instruction and follow-up help (which is where I come in) but after that, it's up to you, the owner, to buckle down and put the work in. Contrary to what you might hear, there are NO quick fixes; anything appearing to be a quick fix will be short-lived and likely to create new problems further down the line. Problems improve gradually, and the more work you put in the faster things will change.

Your best chance for success comes with a full behaviour consultation followed by one or more mini top-up sessions - either in person or by email - to keep the momentum going. However, for more minor problems a single short visit is often sufficient.
